Is Homosexuality An Act Of Nature Or Nature - 870 Words

As a prerequisite for Professor Martin Espinosa’s class, Sexuality and the Black Church, I conducted an interview was to collect information regarding whether homosexuality is an act of nature or nature. Over, the past few decades, there has been an ongoing debate about whether a person can be born gay or lesbian or is it a matter of their conditioning. In other words, is homosexuality a byproduct of an individual s environment that spawned or encouraged their behavior? I am disposed to believe that homosexuality can be a natural character trait in some and with others it’s a matter of choice. However, I contend that it is more often than not, a choice. This was my mindset going into the interview and I needed to remove all preconceived thoughts, ideas and emotions. It was my concern that without an open mind, I wouldn t be able to objectively conduct the interview. I interviewed was a 35 year old co-worker, black female and mother of two children, whose sexual orientation is that of a lesbian. From her appearance, one could easily assume that preference would be for men. She offers an enticing combination of masculinity while maintaining her femininity. Interestingly enough, I recently discovered that she was a lesbian while we were in the same training class. We managed to establish rapport with one another. Since we worked together, it was more convenient to do the interview at work. We sat outside in the picnic area, smoking and engaging in small talk. She wasShow MoreRelatedHomosexuality Is A Form Of Emotional, Romantic, And Sexual Attraction858 Words   |  4 PagesAs one of the many sexual orientations, homosexuality is a form of emotional, romantic, and sexual attraction that is primarily or exclusively to people of the same sex. Homosexuality is a fairly recent phenomenon in the twenty-first century; in fact, this sexual orientation has significantly increased but there is no precise way to estimate the exact numbers due to people not openly identifying as such due to homophobia (which, in everyday use, is the fear of homosexuals) and homobigotry (intoleranceRead MoreAgainst Homosexuality Essay726 Words   |  3 Pages Against Homosexuality Several important principles which most people seem to be unaware of (particularly those who teach in the schools of law and legislators of societies) are: Man has not been given the authority and power to define the nature of crime. That authority is rightfully reserved only by God. Therefore the responsibility all mankind has is to embrace laws in accord with the Laws of God. The reason God is the rightful One to define the nature of crime isRead MoreEssay about Sexual Orientation1077 Words   |  5 Pagesorientation is considered highly controversial in our world today. There are many issues that society is faced with concerning homosexuality. When thinking of homosexuality most people refer to the Bible for an answer. There is even more controversy within the Bible’s text. Not only is there reference to the Bible, but also to our mind to answer whether or not homosexuality is a moral issue. Psychological and Biological research is searching for an answer to this illustrious area of confusion. Even though homosexual behavior, especially in more recent years, has become an acceptable standard in our society it is a voluntary act and a sin, but the church has the ongoing responsibility and God-given call to love our neighbors, regardless of their sin because we too are all sinnersRead MoreEthics of Homosexuality857 Words   |  4 Pagesï » ¿ Homosexuality Homosexuality has always been a controversial topic of ethical discussion. The morality of the subject depends completely upon a person’s views. A person is often swayed one way or another and religion often plays a very large role on the subject. There are those who believe in the divine command theory and those who believe in the natural law theory. In order to properly understand either theory it is important to know the meaning behind each. According toRead MoreExamine the Way in Which One Religion Uses Scripture as a Basis for Its Teachings on Sexual Behaviour1525 Words   |  7 Pagesmarks). The Christian religion implements the use of scripture as the highest command for the way in which sexual ethics is implemented. Christian teaching explores several issues in light of sexuality such as extra-marital and pre-marital sex, homosexuality and pro-creation and I will write about these in this essay. When looking at pre-marital sex, traditional Christian teachings of the bible suggest that sex is only for married couples and hetro-sexual couples. For example, Timothy 5:2: ‘As a ChristianRead MoreThe Debate On Sex Ethics Essay1410 Words   |  6 PagesUnder the topic of sex ethics, the morality of homosexuality is a widely debated and controversial issue. One side of the debate asserts that homosexual behavior is against God’s will, and is wrong because we are all obligated to do God’s will, God’s will is expressed in the Bible, and the Bible forbids homosexual behavior (Craig). This debate is called the traditional Christian argument. Although the argument is valid, I will argue against the conclusion that homosexual behavior is not against God’sRead MoreUnnatural Offences : Section 377 Of Ipc Essay1530 Words   |  7 Pagesconsensual sexual act between its players, active or passive. The natural law theory, which was founded by Aquinas, rests on a certain view that the world has a rational order with values and purposes built into its very nature. And since homosexuality is against the orders of nature, the natural law theory totally condemns it. I disagree with this point of view because I choose not to judge homosexuals but instead I accept them as members of our society.
